Plattegrond

Net toen ik uit Amsterdam verhuisde, kwam 'De zachte atlas van Amsterdam' van Jan Rothuizen uit. Deze kunstenaar heeft tijdens wandelingen door de stad genoteerd wat hij zag, dacht en voelde. Dat heeft unieke, zeer gedetailleerde plattegronden opgeleverd. Ook heeft hij tekeningen gemaakt van onder andere het mortuarium, de Albert Heijn op het Museumplein en De Nederlandse Bank. De plattegronden in de stad zijn voor mij een feest van herkenning. Op de tekeningen staan ook grappige details en 'wist-je-datjes'. Just when I left Amsterdam and moved to a small village, I saw 'De zachte atlas van Amsterdam' in the bookstore. The book full with maps of Amsterdam is made by Jan Rothuizen. This artist made notes and pictures during his walks in the city. The maps are unique and very precisely. He made also pictures of the mortuary, the big supermarket at Museumplein, the Dutch Bank and more. When I studied the maps, I recognised a lot.
